as many of you know my cat was suffering for a little while...

as many of you know my cat was suffering for a little while because of her old age. On may,15, 2013 she passed away. She “fell sleep in my arms”. during her last days all she wanted to do is to be hugged and loved. She would cuddle next to me, she would rest her head on my lap, my feet, my hands, wherever she could, and if i walked to far away from her she would cry as if asking me to come back. she could barely walk so she couldn’t chase after me. those two days i spent most of my time next to her, petting her, hugging her and giving her kisses on her head. on the 15 i laid next to her, she looked at me gave a big cry and her body became stiff for a few seconds, then her body relaxed…she had stop breathing. my intimidate reaction was to shake her, held her face and tried to open her eyes wide telling her “don’t leave me, please don’t leave me”. but shortly i understood, it was her time to go, to rest from the pains of the physical world. i closed her eyes, put my arms around her, i hugged her for a few minutes before notifying the rest of my family.

the reason why i’m posting this is because …just look at her, she looks so happy, so peaceful. watching her suffer for the previous days, this face is a face that i had been yearning to see. it’s what made me realize and understand that this little warrior is no longer tired, or in pain.

Ginger did so much for me. Since the very moment she stepped in our home she became my hero, my strength and my family. For a little girl like me that was always different. who didn’t like school because all the bullies, and hated home because of all the yelling and fighting. Ginger became my home the only one i could trust and rely on. Whenever i cried she would run to me and lick my face and hands, when i was sick she would stay next to me, she even defended me from my sister (even thou my sister was playing around for ginger it made no difference, she would chase my sister all around the house) but she also had my back if anyone else tried to put a hand on me. However, most importantly, she saved me from myself, because being lonely wasn’t easy. she was certainly my sunshine among the gray clouds. our bond was and is very deep. she asked for my arms during those last days, no one else but mine. i think she understood, she felt it all along that for me she was not a pet, or like any other family member. She was (and is) special to me unlike anyone else. because of her i made it through the tough part of my life so far.

i like to think of this as a long nap, she didn’t die, she is still here in my heart, she is just taking a very long nap. i will love her forever and ever and will ever and ever be thankful to have had her in my life. She is my heroine, a little warrior of good!

Ginger is having a hard time. She is old and in pain. Today she feels specially bad and didn’t want to leave my side, so i let her into my lap where she stayed for almost two hours. i had to get her to get up because my legs were numb. She refused my sister’s and mom’s arms and kept coming towards me. she also refused a fluffy pillow and a soft towel. so i took one of my sweaters, put it next to her and she quickly laid on it. Ginger was there for me during my best and worst times. i think she feels how special she is for me and how much i love her and care for her. She wants me to be with her in her best and now in her worst time. LOVE YOU GINGER!
